Evangelical Monasticism

The Order of St. Kevin is a monastic community of friends, postulants, novitiates, brothers & sisters who communally commit to the apostolic leadership of Missio Mosaic: A Missionary Society.

Geographically dispersed but missionally centered. We live by a rule including regular prayer, confession, mutual submission, and service. In a world thrumming with busyness, Christ calls us to a quiet, peaceful, contemplative life lived in service of the people around us.

Who are we?

The Order of St. Kevin is a distributed & multi-denominational monastic community. It is comprised of men & women, young & old, clergy & laity. Our desire is to follow Jesus with passion & power

through our active practice of the spiritual disciplines. We look to the historic monastic communities which have preceded us for personal example & collective insight.

Why do we meet?

Both virtual & physical meetings are designed to build community, provide encouragement, disseminate ministry tools, & provide accountability to the entire monastic family as we seek to live faithfully as missionaries in the places where Jesus Christ has sovereignly planted us.

Where do we meet?

The Order of St. Kevin, as a non-cloistered monastic community that contains members from across the length & breadth of the United States, holds its chapter meetings online.

How do we operate?

The Order of St. Kevin has a rule of life which every member of our extended monastic family lives by. This Rule of Life provides structure and direction for our lives & ministry.

When do we meet?

While we do not have a chapter house currently, we do meet weekly online. We also meet in person annually, both during our network convocation & in a dedicated meeting of monastics at a central location here in the US during the summer season.

Who leads?

Fr. Foye M. Belyea serves as our Abbot. He has served in local church ministry for thirty years in various pastoral roles. He is an Anglican priest & church planter who provides leadership to evangelical, charismatic, missional & liturgical ecclesial communities.

"Can the Evangelical spiritual formation movement progress any further without the reintroduction of historic monasticism?" --Dr. Greg Peters, Biola

Most of your church staff meetings probably don't begin with this concern, but most of our churches probably do have people who have longed for a deeper connection with God only to be given more and more to do for the church, instead of being offered inroads to deeper relationship and contemplation of the God who is the wellspring of our faith.  The Order of St. Kevin gives a different way, instead of always serving, sitting at the feet of Jesus.
